Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey

This beach has had long-term pollution problems, can’t be entirely blamed on human neglect because some of the reason it is polluted is because there isn’t enough wave action and circulation. However, this is just one of the reasons the water at Mother’s Beach isn’t a good place to swim.

Frequent kayaking enthusiasts report that floating debris and oil spots can be found on Mother’s Beach, also known as Marina Beach. Its high levels of pollution have also led to discolored sand, so it’s best not to come into direct contact with it. Most visitors find the contaminated water much too dirty to swim in.
