Ezekiel and the Bread, Ezekiel 4:12

Poor Ezekiel took a lot of punishment in the Old Testament. One such story is a punishment to atone for the sins of his country. Ezekiel was a godly man and he did as God requested even though he was paying for other people’s sins.

God told Ezekiel to lie on his left side with a block of clay on his body. He had to lie that way for as many days as the years people of Israel had sinned, totaling 390 days. Then he had to lie on his right side for 40 days for the people of Judah. During that time he had to eat bread baked on a fire made of cow dung.
